Skiing in the Pyrénées

SKIING IN THE PYRENEES

Less than two hours' drive from Salies de Bearn are many Ski Stations suitable for beginners through to expert, family ski trips and adrenalin seeking snow boarders and off piste enthusiasts.

Unlike skiing in many other European and Antipodean resorts, skiing in the Pyrenees is extremely affordable and offers a uniquely South West of France experience.

Also favoured by the Spanish who utilise the many tunnels which cross over the border through the Pyrenees, the ski stations are friendly, low key and easy to access.

Saint Lary Soulan for example, less than a two hour drive from Salies de Bearn offers over 100 Km of slopes, a 700 ha skiable area, 275 snow guns, 30 ski lifts (1 cable-car, 2 gondola lift, 11 chair lifts and 18 ski-tows), 55 ski runs (7 green, 26 blue, 12 red and 10 black)

and a family friendly Kidpark and toboggan run.

Gourette, only 90 kms from Salies de Bearn, but about the same travel time as Saint Lary Soulan, is another hugely popular Pyrenean ski resort set nearby to the charming old spa town of Eaux Bonnes.
